Pair the extension with your account.
One sign-in links the extension to your account. Here's how pairing works and why it matters.
Pairing is automatic: sign in at app.mailviewed.com with the same Google account you send from, in the same browser where the extension is installed. That's it — the extension picks up a secure token and starts syncing your tracked emails to your dashboard.
Why pairing matters
- Checkmarks and statuses in Gmail come from your tracked-email list — no pairing, no ticks.
- Self-open protection: when you view your own Sent copy, the paired extension tells us, so your own view is never counted as your recipient reading.
- Reply detection: when you open a conversation in Gmail and your recipient has written back, the extension notes the reply (just the fact and time, never its content) and marks the thread Hot.
Using more than one Gmail account?
Link each account once. Sign in at app.mailviewed.com with the first. For every other one, open Switch account and sign in with that Google account (the plain sign-in page takes you straight to the dashboard you're already signed in to). Every account gets its own separate dashboard, and the extension keeps identities per tab, so tracking never leaks between accounts, even with two inboxes open side by side.
Sending before you sign in is safe: your email still goes out normally, just without tracking. From extension 0.7.23, the label next to Send reads Sign in to track until the Gmail account in that tab is linked, and a short notice in Gmail tells you, at most once a day, when an email went out without tracking. Earlier versions show Tracking on either way. To check on those, click the MailViewed icon in Chrome's toolbar: until you're linked, it asks you to sign in.
